HVAA softball intramural programs are open to kids from 7 to 16 years of age as of 9/1.
The season begins in April and concludes in June, by the end of the school year (see 2012 schedules on side under related links).
The program divides the kids into 3 leagues:
Coach Pitch Softball - This league is designed for girls ages 7-9 (grades 1-3). In this league, girls are pitched to by their coach. This is a non-competitive league and teaches the fundamentals of the game. Every girl will have the opportunity to play each position and will bat multiple times each game. The games are played at the Murray Avenue School softball field on Red Lion Rd.
Junior Girls- This league is for girls ages 10-12 (grades 4-6) with the purpose to further develop each players skills in a more competitive setting. Both windmill and sling shot pitching is done by the girls themselves. All girls will have the opportunity to bat multiple times per game and will experience a variety of fielding positions. Standings are kept and each season ends with an exciting playoff series. These games are all played on the two "Bus Barn fields" located off the rear of Lower Moreland High School’s parking lot.
Senior Girls- Girls ages 13-16 (grades 7-10) participate in an Inter-Township League (ITL). This is more of a travel league, but we do not cut anyone! ITL is much more competitive, yet still social for the girls. There are both regular season games and 2 tournament weekends throughout the season. Games are held on both the weekends and weekdays.
Uniforms and equipment are provided by HVAA.
HVAA depends on volunteer coaches to assist with the running of our sports. With each season, we seek motivated, conscientious volunteers to assist us with the task of coaching our players. The success of the leagues depends on our volunteer coaches and assistants.
