Intramural Soccer. This is what we refer to as the "in house" league. There are four different leagues of programs for boys and girls ages 5 through 14.
Micro Soccer is for children ages 4 and 5 (as of 9/1/08) and is played on a smaller, modified field with 3 or 4 children per side. There are no goalies and referees, and parent volunteers are asked to help coordinate the sessions which last 1 hour. HVAA contracts Smart Soccer to run the program and provide soccer instruction for the children and parents alike. This is a co-ed program.
Junior League Soccer is for children ages 6 and 7 (as of 9/1/08) and is played 6 a side (6 v 6) with set teams, coaches and referees. Boys and girls play in different leagues with a size 3 soccer ball. This is our youngest league of game-like soccer. Volunteer coaches and assistants are required in this league.
Intermediate League Soccer is for children ages 8,9 and 10 (as of 9/1/08). It is 8 a side soccer with teams, coaches and referees. Volunteer coaches and assistants are required to make this league a success.
Senior League Soccer is for children ages 11 through 14 (as of 9/1/08). Games are played 9 per side on close to regulation size field and goals. Coaches and assistants are again asked to volunteer. Because of the age disparity in this league, 3 years, we suggest that if you are heading into the 9th grade, and are a high school level soccer player (Varsity or JV), you might want to look into a more competitive soccer league. While this is a competitive league, Varsity and even JV level players won't be playing against players of similar skill and size.
