Huntingdon Valley Athletic Association Annual Scholarship Senior Awards

This Year's Scholarship Application Deadline is April 15th

Each year HVAA awards three scholarships for exceptional high school senior students pursuing secondary education. This year's deadline for receiving your completed application is April 15th. The HVAA Board must receive all submissions by that date.  All applications will be submitted electronically.


Emmanuel Collazo Service Award

Dedicated to the memory of Emmanuel “Manny” Collazo, HVAA participant, Volunteer, Lower Moreland High School graduate, Penn State graduate, Army ROTC 2nd Lieutenant, and son of a past HVAA Board member.

A $500 scholarship will be awarded annually to an eligible graduating high school senior who is going on to pursue a secondary education. Manny had a strong commitment to service and promoting child welfare services for those experiencing emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges. He ensured that they were empowered to reach their potential and lead productive, fulfilling lives. In keeping with this service, Manny was best known for not trying to change the system but instead focusing on helping one child at a time, therefore the recipient of this award must demonstrate high moral standards and character. This person will have experience with volunteering, organizing, or participating in activities that benefit or serve children 0 -12 who do not have the resources or are missing some of the most important basics of life.

Steve Silverman Leadership Award 

Dedicated to the memory of Stephen H. Silverman, past President of HVAA Board of Directors and community servant, this $500 scholarship will be awarded annually to an eligible graduating high school senior who is going on to pursue a secondary education. In keeping with Steve Silverman’s passion and commitment to community service and youth development through positive activities, the recipient of this award must demonstrate high moral standards and character, leadership qualities, and a history of service to his/her community.

Thomas Davenport Community Award

Dedicated to the memory of Thomas C. Davenport, an officer of the HVAA Board of Directors and proud Lower Moreland community member. This $500 scholarship will be awarded annually to an eligible Lower Moreland graduating high school senior who is going on to pursue a secondary education. In keeping with Thomas Davenport’s commitment to our community and athletics, the recipient of this award must be involved in LMHS athletics. They should have had a strong involvement in the HVAA programs and have demonstrated good sportsmanship and a sense of fair play. They must show a strong sense of commitment to HVAA.
